Eggu
A personal finance app that makes money management an everyday habit

Overview
Making money management simpler
Eggu is a personal finance app, launched in early 2025, that helps people track expenses, understand their spending habits and manage their money more effectively.
The goal was an experience simple and intuitive enough to make everyday money management easier — and to encourage healthier financial habits along the way.

The challenge
How might we make money management simple enough to become an everyday habit?
Managing money can feel overwhelming. Manual expense tracking is time-consuming, and complex finance apps make it hard to see where the money actually goes.

The process
From research to a refined flow, in five steps
- 01
Research & discovery
We explored user needs, pain points and competing finance apps to find where money tracking could be simpler.
- 02
Product strategy
We defined the core user journey and prioritised the essentials: transaction tracking, a financial overview and spending insights.
- 03
Wireframing & user flows
We mapped the key interactions and simplified recording an expense, reviewing transactions and understanding spending.
- 04
UI design & prototyping
A clear visual hierarchy, reusable components and an approachable interface that balances simplicity with financial clarity.
- 05
Testing & iteration
We evaluated the core flows, found the friction points and refined the experience from usability feedback.

Key decisions
Four principles behind every screen
- 01
Reduce friction
Adding and reviewing transactions should be quick and straightforward.
- 02
Prioritise clarity
The essential financial information is readable at a glance.
- 03
Make insights useful
Help people understand their spending patterns, rather than simply showing them numbers.
- 04
Build consistency
Reusable components and predictable interactions across the whole app.

Product & business impact
Beyond usability, Eggu has to deliver recurring value
Long-term growth depends on people coming back. We'd measure that with three product metrics.
- 01
Activation
Are new users recording their first transaction?
- 02
Retention
Do users return to track their money consistently?
- 03
Conversion
Are users willing to pay for advanced insights or budgeting features?
A freemium model could keep essential tracking free while offering premium features such as advanced reports, budgeting tools and personalised insights.
These are proposed success metrics and monetisation opportunities, not verified product results.
Next steps
Let real use decide what comes next
The next stage focuses on analysing user behaviour, improving onboarding, validating usability and testing premium opportunities against real user needs.
Conclusion
More than tracking expenses
Designing Eggu is about making financial information easier to understand, everyday actions easier to complete and better money habits easier to keep.
The goal is an experience that delivers meaningful value to the people using it, while supporting sustainable product growth.
